Melissa Chiovenda
Research Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine (EXT)

Melissa Kerr Chiovenda has a PhD in anthropology from the University of Connecticut and an MA in Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies from Georgetown University. He research focuses on collective and cultural trauma among Shi'a ethnic Hazara civil society activists in Bamyan, Afghanistan. She is starting a new project with  Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in Athens, Greece who arrived several years ago and who are taking on both mediating and activist roles in response to the recent large numbers of refugee arrivals.

Priya Kundu
Research Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine (EXT)

Dr. Kundu is a Dr. Mario Pagenel Global Mental Health Delivery Fellow working in Rwanda to identify core challenges to the quality of mental health care and to devise collaborative plans for improvement. She is assisting Rwandan health care workers to develop their capacity to implement new programs initiatives and quality care interventions in mental health care.

Brittney van de Water
Research Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine (INT)

Brittney (Sullivan) van de Water has a PhD in nursing from Duke University and a BS and MS in nursing from Boston College. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner and global health delivery researcher. Her research focuses on improving treatment guidelines and outcomes for pediatric drug-resistant tuberculosis. Specifically, she is working with Dr. Mercedes Becerra on improving treatment and care for children exposed to tuberculosis at home in South Africa, Peru, and globally.

Research Fellow in Social Medicine

Dr. Wahl is a medical anthropologist who is studying the control of endemic hepatitis B among the Kandosi and Sharpra of the Northern Peruvian Amazon. She is preparing a manuscript on this subject.
